I have been playing the guitar forover 40 years and have beenteaching music for over 35years. I am a 1999 graduate ofUW Parkside with a B.A. inmusic, (classical guitarperformance), and I was the firststudent in that school's historyto graduate with the jazz studiesemphasis. Another greateducational experience was myyear at the famed Musician'sInstitute (G.I.T.) completing thethen 1-year program as well aspursuing private studies withPat Martino and Robben Ford. Ihave performed in a variety ofgroups at many venues in theMidwest and on the West Coast.My educational philosophy is toaccept students of any age andlevel of ability and to tailor thelessons to the needs of thatindividual. I am comfortableteaching all styles of music suchas blues, rock, metal, jazz, funk,R&B, classical, country, folk, etc.Students can learnimprovising/soloing, learningsongs by ear as well as by thenote, music theory,composition/songwriting andwhole variety of relatedsubjects. I strive to makelearning an enjoyable experiencefor both of us. I teach electricand acoustic guitar, electric bassguitar, mandolin and ukulele. Ioffer lessons in Milwaukee andin Racine. Geoff Keats is a founding teacher with Family Music Center, and has been teaching guitar for over twenty-five years in southeastern Wisconsin. In addition to taking private lessons, he has studied at The Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and specializes in American Fingerstyle guitar. He teaches all genres except classical, and accepts students aged eight to adult. A blues, jazz and rock enthusiast, Geoff has an extensive library of recordings and literature which he incorporates into his lessons. Bill is a well-known veteran performer. He played for years with the WAMI award winning Leroy Airmaster Band and was nominated Best Guitarist for the 2001 WAMI awards. He has performed with many of the area's best musicians including Chuck Hedges, Duane Stuermer, Sam McCue, Jim Liban, Jon Paris and Mrs. Fun, as well as world-known performers Hubert Sumlin, Butch Miles, Alan Dawson, Sunnyland Slim, the Drifters, the Platters, and others in some of their Milwaukee appearances. He is also a well-known educator, having taught at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music (two years as a Guitar Department Chairman),Milwaukee Area Technical College, UW-Wisconsin-Madison Summer Music Camp -among others. Bill holds a Bachelor of Music, Jazz Guitar(with honors) - Wisconsin Conservatory of Music,Wisconsin Certified K - 12Music Instructor - UW -Milwaukee, Graduate Coursework in Ethnomusicology- UW - Madison and Level II Orff-Schulwerk Certification -UW - Milwaukee
